What to ask your Wedding Photographer?

So, you're on the hunt for a wedding photographer, and let me tell you, it's not an easy task! Whether you're considering myself or another studio, i've put together a list of 15 questions to help you find the perfect photographer for your big day.

Alright, let's dive into the questions:

1. What's your primary photography style? This one's crucial because you want to make sure their style aligns with your vision. I document, I captured the day without taking over the day.

2. How many weddings have you shot, and have you shot ones similar to mine? Experience matters, so ask about their track record. Years alone don't tell the whole story, as some photographers may only shoot a few weddings a year. Look for a photographer who's experienced in your type of wedding.

 

3. Are you primarily a wedding photographer? It's important to find someone who specialises in wedding photography and knows the ins and outs of capturing those special moments.

 

4. How many other events will you be photographing that weekend? It's good to know if your photographer is juggling multiple weddings on the same day. Larger studios like ours can handle it, but smaller ones might struggle to give you their full attention.

 

5. Will we have a contract? Contracts are essential for your protection and the photographer's. Make sure you get a contract that outlines the services, pricing, and termination terms. Be wary of photographers who don't typically use contracts.

 

6. What happens if you're ill on our wedding day? While it's unlikely, it's crucial to know how the studio will handle such a situation. I have a network of photographers that I can put 

 

7. Do you have insurance? Professional photographers should have proper insurance to protect themselves and their equipment. It's a sign that they take their business seriously.

 

8. Does the package I'm interested in include an assistant? If you have a larger wedding with lots of guests, having an assistant photographer can ensure nothing gets missed.

 

9. Can I choose a certain style of post-production? Post-production plays a significant role in how your photos will look. Make sure the studio offers the style you desire and doesn't just hand over unfinished images.

 

10. Will you color correct my images? Color correction should be standard practice for every image. Ensure that your photographer will take care of this to deliver professional-quality results.

 

11. What kind of equipment do you use? Do you have backups? Good equipment is essential, and having backups is crucial. You don't want any technical mishaps ruining your day. I shoot with Nikon, I have 2 Nikon cameras which I will wear most of the day. My cameras both have back up memory card slots. 

 

12. What's your policy on overtime? It's important to know if there will be any additional charges if your event runs longer than scheduled. You don't want any surprises later on.

 

13. What attire will you and your team wear? You want your photographers to blend in seamlessly with the wedding. Make sure they'll be dressed appropriately for the occasion. - So this is somethi

 

14. How long will it take to receive the proofs, album, etc.? Each studio has its own timeline for delivering the final product. Some may promise quick turnaround, while others may take a few weeks to several months.
