We can go for a wander, stop when the light or backdrop looks beautiful and make photographs as you enjoy a little time together. Getting married at Chester Town Hall
Chester Town Hall is one of the city's best-known buildings. Its Gothic architecture, sweeping staircase, carved stone foyer and historic rooms make it a beautiful setting for a civil wedding or partnership ceremony.
The grand Council Chamber suits a larger celebration, while the Committee Room offers a more intimate option. Whichever room you choose, there are plenty of opportunities for photographs without needing to travel elsewhere immediately after the ceremony.
Outside, Town Hall Square is ideal for confetti, congratulations and a full group photograph. From there, we can take a relaxed walk towards the Cathedral, along Northgate Street or through Chester's historic centre for portraits that feel full of life rather than overly posed.

What I love most about photographing a Town Hall wedding is the contrast between the grandeur of the building and the genuine, unscripted moments happening inside it. The nerves before the ceremony, a hand being squeezed, laughter during the vows and everyone spilling into the square afterwards are the photographs that tell the real story.
Getting married at Chester Register Office
Chester Register Office is now at Merchants House on Crook Street, right in the city centre. Its Merchants Suite is a bright, modern ceremony room with lots of natural light and space for an intimate group of family and friends.
Register Office weddings can be wonderfully relaxed. They are proof that a wedding does not have to be huge or last all day to be meaningful. You can have the legal ceremony, celebrate with the people closest to you and then head into Chester for photographs, drinks or a lovely meal.
The central location makes short photography coverage particularly useful. I can meet you before the ceremony, photograph your arrival and the ceremony itself, capture family groups outside and then come with you for a walk through the city. You still receive a varied story of the day without having a photographer there for hours that you do not need.

Small ceremonies often create some of the loveliest photographs because everyone present is genuinely part of the moment. There is time for hugs, conversation, laughter and the in-between bits that can easily be missed.

Natural photographs without hours of posing
If you feel awkward in front of a camera, you are in very good company. Most of my couples tell me exactly the same thing.
My approach is relaxed and documentary-led. I will capture what is happening naturally, then offer a little direction when it helps - where to stand for the best light, what to do with your hands or when to pause for a photograph. You will not be left wondering what to do, but you also will not spend your wedding day being moved from one pose to another.
