Photography + Film - The hybrid option.

All the emotion, movement and in-between moments — alongside timeless photos — in one seamless wedding story.

Hybrid wedding coverage is one of those terms that gets mentioned a lot, but rarely explained properly. It’s all about telling your story in more than one way — combining timeless photographs with subtle, cinematic film clips, captured by the same person, at the same time. So instead of choosing between photo or video… you get both. Let me explain how it works.

why hybrid?

A dilemma so many couples face when planning their wedding is whether to have both photography and videography.

As much as video is a lovely idea, for a lot of couples it simply isn’t realistic once budgets come into play, which often means photography has to take priority. And yet, having even a short film — the movement, the laughter, the in-between moments — is something many couples say they’d love to have to look back on.

That’s exactly why I chose to offer hybrid coverage.

My Platinum package includes your full photography coverage alongside a beautifully edited highlight film. Throughout the day, I capture short video clips alongside your photos, which are then edited together to music to tell the story of your day in a really natural, unobtrusive way.

It gives you the best of both worlds — photography and film — without needing multiple suppliers or a big jump in cost. And for many couples, a 3–5 minute highlight film feels far more watchable than a full-length wedding video, making it perfect for reliving the day, sharing with loved ones, and yes… even popping on social media if you’d like.

Hybrid Wedding Coverage – FAQs

What is hybrid wedding coverage?
Hybrid coverage is a mix of photography and short-form film, captured together throughout your wedding day. Alongside your photographs, I also film small cinematic clips which are later edited into a highlights film — so you don’t have to choose between photo or video.

What’s included in a hybrid package?
You’ll receive full photography coverage of your day, plus a 3–5 minute highlights film made up of video clips captured naturally as the day unfolds. It’s all edited to music and designed to tell the story of your day in a relaxed, unobtrusive way.

How do you shoot both photo and video at the same time?
This comes down to experience and workflow. I move seamlessly between photographing and filming using professional hybrid cameras, capturing video in short bursts alongside your photos — especially during moments where movement and emotion really matter.

Will anything be missed because you’re doing both?
No — photography always comes first. The video clips are captured alongside your photos, not instead of them. Key moments are always prioritised for photography, and the film element is woven in naturally without interrupting the flow of the day.

Does the film include audio like vows or speeches?
The highlights film is set to music rather than live audio. It’s designed to be a cinematic, easy-to-watch summary of the day rather than a full documentary-style film. If having full audio from vows or speeches is important to you, a dedicated videographer may be a better fit.

How is this different from hiring a photographer and videographer separately?
Hybrid coverage gives you beautiful photos and a film, without having multiple suppliers or a big jump in cost. Many couples love that it keeps things simple on the day and still allows them to relive the movement, atmosphere and emotion afterwards.

How long is the highlights film?
Your film will usually be around 3–5 minutes long — long enough to tell the story of your day, but short enough to enjoy again and again. It’s perfect for sharing with family and friends, and ideal for watching back without needing to set aside an hour.

Can we choose the music for the film?
Your film will be edited to carefully selected, licensed music that suits the feel of your day. While specific chart songs can’t be used due to licensing, the overall tone and vibe are always considered — and you can always add your own music if you share it on social media.

Oh my gosh where do I start with Katy. She is THE BEST!!!!! I was looking for a photographer for my wedding and actually had messaged someone else who I kind of new or had a connection through work but they were already booked up for most of 2025. So when I asked for a recommendation they gave me Katy and I am so so glad I asked because Katy was so wonderful from start to finish. With messages and giving advice there was no question small too small or stupid and looking through her Instagram page of style of photography to me they were a dream to look at capturing the happiest of moments the smile of all the faces I will now have the most perfect photos to look back on of my wedding day. My husband and I were so impressed with Katy as she worked so flat out to capture as much as possible for us with the family on one of the hottest days known to man for a wedding in the UK at 32c on our wedding day on July 12th Katy did not shy away but got involved with everyone. Katy was with me and my bridal party getting ready, it was so nice to feel completely relaxed with someone who everyone felt at ease with too. She is one of the nicest people that I could possibly imagine to have worked with and could not recommend enough to anyone who is looking for a photographer whatever the occasion. I really hope to meet Katy again soon and work with again.
