Phil called me a few weeks ago to explain he and is fiance, Diane were looking for a photographer to capture their day. He also went on to tell me about their plans and how Phil was very poorly and they wanted to get married before he was too unwell for it to go ahead.
My heart sank, I knew I wanted to do this for them, and I knew I couldn't take a penny from them. I asked them to make a donation to a charity of their choice instead of paying me on the day. For me to be able to give a gift like this is such a honour and to know these photos will mean the absolute world to them and their family.
On Wednesday 28th July, 2021 I headed to The Wynstay, Oswestry to photograph their ceremony and a few shots of the newly weds in the gardens.
What a beautiful ceremony, Phil and Diane said the vows in the presence of Diane's Mum and Phil's Dad. It was intimate, heartfelt and the most emotional ceremony I have been part of. I watched as Diane held Phil so closely, their hands never far apart. To be part of that moment was a privledge, I honestly have no idea how I kept it together!
Spending just 2 hours with them made me feel like I had known them for years, I am so pleased I got to give these special images to them.
I know the next few weeks are going to be very tough for them, I hope these images provide some comfort.
A donation was being made on my behalf to the Lingen Davies Trust, the charity chosen by Phil and Diane as they are currently providing the care he requires as part of his treatment.
My biggest love and hugs to you both. Katy xxx
